This Sikandar review starts with a simple question: can star power carry a familiar story? A. R. Murugadoss directs Salman Khan in a Hindi action drama about a man who fights corruption on behalf of ordinary people. The film arrived on 29 March 2025 with big expectations and a modest audience response.

Sikandar Review: The Story So Far (No Spoilers)

The Sikandar plot centres on Sanjay Rajkot, a wealthy and respected figure whom everyone calls Sikandar. A tragic accident changes how he sees the world. From there he decides to use his influence to shield people who have no power of their own.

That puts him on a collision course with a corrupt political class. Sathyaraj plays Minister Rakesh Pradhan, the kind of figure who gives the hero someone obvious to push against. The film sets up its conflict quickly and makes its intentions clear within the first act.

If you like mass-hero action, the structure will feel familiar. A good man, a rotten system and a lot of dramatic confrontations are the main ingredients. The question is how much fresh energy the film adds to them.

What Works in Sikandar

The strongest asset is the star himself. Salman Khan has an easy screen presence, and the film is built to show it off with slow-motion entrances, punchy lines and crowd-pleasing moments. Fans of his earlier work will recognise the formula immediately.

The central idea also has heart. A powerful man who chooses to look out for people below him is a decent hook for an action movie, and the film is sincere about it. When it lets the emotional side breathe, it gives the story a little more weight than the usual revenge setup.

At 133 minutes, it is not punishing in length. The pace is brisk enough that you are rarely stuck in one scene for too long.

Sikandar Cast and Performances

The Sikandar cast is led by Salman Khan, who plays the hero with a mix of gravity and swagger. He is most comfortable in the confident, larger-than-life moments. Quieter scenes call for more range than the script really asks of him.

  • Rashmika Mandanna plays Saisri Rajkot and brings warmth to the emotional thread.

  • Sathyaraj is the political antagonist, Minister Rakesh Pradhan.

  • Sharman Joshi appears as Amar.

  • Prateik Smita Patil plays Arjun Pradhan.

  • Kajal Aggarwal appears as Vaidehi.

The supporting players are capable, but the script gives many of them limited room. Sathyaraj, a reliable screen villain, makes the most of the material he gets. The ensemble is better than the writing around it.

Where Sikandar Stumbles

The main problem is predictability. The corruption-fighting hero story is a well-worn path, and the film rarely surprises you along the way. Most beats land where you expect them to, and the villains are drawn broadly.

The drama also struggles to feel earned. Emotional moments arrive on cue but often lack the build-up that would make them hit hard. The audience score on TMDB sits at 4.8 out of 10, which reflects that mixed reaction.

Murugadoss, who also wrote the film, has made sharper work elsewhere. Here the direction feels more concerned with serving the star than with tightening the story. The result is watchable but uneven.

Is Sikandar Worth Watching?

Sikandar is worth watching mainly if you are already a Salman Khan fan. The film delivers star moments and a sincere message, but the story is thin and familiar. If you want a fresh or deeply layered drama, you may feel let down.

As a casual weekend watch it can pass the time, especially if you enjoy loud, emotional mass entertainment. For viewers who prefer tight plotting, other drama movie reviews on our site may be a better starting point. You can also check the Sikandar page on IMDb for more details on the film.

We rate it 4.8 out of 10: a sincere but formulaic outing.

Who Will Enjoy Sikandar

  • Salman Khan fans who want another mass-hero showcase.

  • Viewers who enjoy Hindi action dramas with a social message.

  • Anyone happy to trade originality for star charisma and familiar thrills.

Pros

  • Salman Khan's commanding screen presence
  • Sincere anti-corruption theme
  • Reasonable 133-minute runtime

Cons

  • Predictable, well-worn story
  • Thin supporting characters
  • Emotional beats feel unearned

Our Verdict

Sikandar is a sincere star vehicle that leans on Salman Khan's charm more than on its story. Fans will find enough to enjoy, but everyone else will see the formula.
