PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie (2026) Review: Dinosaur Island Rescue For Little Pups

This PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie review starts with a simple question: can a third big-screen outing keep preschoolers happy without wearing out their parents? Cal Brunker returns to direct this animated action adventure, and the answer is mostly yes. It is short, bright and built for the youngest audience in the cinema.

PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie Review: The Story So Far (No Spoilers)

The PAW Patrol plot kicks off when a mysterious storm forces the pups to crash-land on an uncharted tropical island. The island is packed with dinosaurs, which is exactly the kind of hook a young fan will love. Soon the team meets Rex, a rescue pup who is stranded there.

From there the pups take on a bigger mission than their usual neighbourhood jobs. Mayor Humdinger is also part of the picture, which keeps the series' familiar rivalry alive. I will leave the rest of the story for you to discover.

This is the third PAW Patrol feature and follows The Mighty Movie. You do not need to have seen the earlier films, though knowing the pups helps.

What Works in PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie

The setting is the biggest win. Swapping Adventure Bay for a dinosaur island gives the film a clear, exciting identity, and it suits the pups' rescue-first style of problem solving.

• Pace: at 88 minutes, it never overstays its welcome.

• Clear stakes: the goal is simple to follow, even for a three-year-old.

• Team spirit: each pup gets a role, so favourite characters tend to get a moment.

The film also leans into the series' core message of teamwork and kindness. It is gentle action, rated PG in the US for mild action and peril. If you browse our animation movie reviews, you will find few titles this friendly to the very young.

PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie Cast and Performances

The PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie cast mixes young voice talent with a few familiar adult names. Carter Young voices Marshall, and Mckenna Grace returns as Skye. Hayden Chemberlen plays the newcomer Rex.

Terry Crews voices Alistair Stonewall, and Jennifer Hudson is Lilian Ledes. Ron Pardo plays Mayor Humdinger, the pups' usual troublemaker. Voice work in this series is bright and energetic by design, and the cast fits that tone.

Voice work for the target audience

The performances are pitched at children, so do not expect nuance. Expect clear, cheerful delivery that makes each pup easy to recognise. That is exactly what the film needs.

Where PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie Stumbles

This is a film made for small children, and adults will notice it. The story leans on familiar series beats, and the formula of crisis, gadgets and a last-minute save can feel predictable. Parents who have sat through the TV show will recognise the rhythm.

Critical opinion appears to be mixed rather than glowing. Audience scores I found range from middling to warm, and two Indian outlets, the Times of India and India Today, each gave it 3 out of 5. That fits my sense that it is pleasant rather than special.

The action stays mild to protect its young audience. Older siblings may find it too tame, and anyone hoping for a bigger leap in ambition after The Mighty Movie may be left wanting more.

Is PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie Worth Watching?

Yes, if you are a family with preschoolers or early-primary kids who already love the pups. It delivers a bright, short adventure with dinosaurs, rescues and a clear message about working together. For that audience it does its job well.

If you do not have a young child in tow, there is little here to draw you in. The film makes no attempt to win over adults beyond some starry voice names. For wider options, see our family movie reviews, or try a livelier genre pick from action movie reviews.
